Ginger Rogers
Can there be any doubt? There were better dancers and better
actresses but there was only one woman whose name forever became linked with
Fred's in the minds of the movie-going public. Together onscreen, they sparked
like no other pair of onscreen lovers have ever before or since. They filled the
screen with an incredible chemistry that defied analysis. Off-screen, the
created magnificent dances of grace and athleticism, working tirelessly together
to advance the state of the movie musical. Such was the public's clamour for
more Fred and Ginger that they made no less than ten movies together, nine at
RKO and their reunion at MGM which showed that age could slow them but nothing
could take away the magic that the world has known, quite simply, as Fred and
Ginger.
For doing everything Fred did, backwards and in high heels, with
style, grace and flair, for being lovely to look at, delightful to know, and
sheer heaven to watch alongside Fred for ten incredible movies, and for being
the only woman to ever really match Fred Astaire in every scene they were
together, AlsoDances.Net is proud to declare Ginger Rogers our choice as Fred
Astaire's Best Overall Partner.
